Job Description: Tool Room Technician

Position Overview:

The Tool Room Technician plays a pivotal role in IMH Products. They are responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining essential tools, dies, molds, and fixtures. They utilize their expertise in metalworking and CNC machining to ensure accuracy and precision in alignment with production requirements. With a keen eye for detail and technical proficiency, they interpret blueprints and schematics to facilitate the design and construction of new equipment. Collaborating closely with engineering and production teams, they implement process improvements to enhance productivity and product quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize tools and dies to construct fixtures and create dies as needed for the fabrication of new fixtures, ensuring accuracy and precision in alignment with production requirements.
  • Perform repairs on dies, molds, and tools as necessary, including disassembly and reassembly of molds, jigs, tools, and fixtures to restore functionality and performance.
  • Interpret and comprehend blueprints, technical drawings, and complex schematics to facilitate the design and construction of new fixtures, tools, and machine parts, adhering to engineering specifications.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of completed tools and dies to identify any imperfections or damage that may compromise functionality, implementing corrective measures as needed to maintain quality standards.
  • Regularly inspect and test all equipment, tools, and machines to verify proper arrangement, settings, and functionality, conducting adjustments and maintenance activities as required to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Modify machines as necessary to control speed, material feed, or cutting path to ensure the production of high-quality products within specified tolerances and parameters.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance productivity and product quality.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational training in machining or toolmaking or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Tool Room Technician or similar role in a CNC machining or metal fabrication environment.
  • Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
  • Strong understanding of blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics, with the ability to interpret complex specifications accurately.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on precision and quality in all tasks performed.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization.

  • Physical lifting and movement: Ability to walk or stand 8-12 hours a day. Ability to lift, push, pull or move 50 pounds. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. Manual dexterity for precise adjustments and handling of components.
