Job Description: Wire EDM Programmer and Operator

Description
The Wire EDM Operator/Programmer is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating Wire EDM machines to produce high-precision components that meet all print and quality requirements. This role includes performing dimensional inspections, maintaining machine performance through preventative maintenance, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment. In addition, this position works closely with management to direct workflow within the Wire EDM department, coordinate preventative maintenance schedules, and determine efficient machining methods for various workpieces.
- Operate Wire EDM machines safely and in accordance with company procedures and best practices.
- Perform daily machine setup, including cleaning the machine, completing wire alignment, and preparing equipment for the first job of the day.
- Set up Wire EDM machines for unattended/night runs to ensure efficient production continuity.
- Program and operate Wire EDM equipment (as applicable), ensuring optimal cutting strategies and machine performance.
- Produce high-quality finished parts that meet all print and specification requirements.
- Perform dimensional inspections on all jobs using appropriate measuring tools to ensure accuracy and quality compliance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Accurately record labor time and job tracking information for each assigned work order.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on Wire EDM machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Identify and communicate machine issues, tooling concerns, or quality deviations to supervision in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Experience operating and programming Wire EDM machines in a manufacturing or toolroom environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
- Strong understanding of machining processes, setup practices, and quality standards- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
